Mason City Declares July as Park and Rec Month

Mason City Mayor John Lee took a moment at a recent city council meeting to recognize an integral part of the city, it’s Parks and Recreation Department. During one of the busiest parts of the year for the department, Lee wanted to make sure they were recognized.

He described the sheer amount of property controlled and operated by the department.

Lee also reaffirmed the city’s commitment to continuing to build on the program and efforts of the Parks Department.

He also highlighted new amenities which are attractions for visitors into Mason City.

Lee made light of the fact that the department has won awards for some of its attractions including the Riverwalk.

Lee proclaimed the month of July to be Parks and Recreation Month in Mason City
