Winnebago Board Approached About Golf Course CAT Grant

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors met recently to discuss several issues. One was the Bear Creek Golf Course CAT grant proposal for the Clubhouse Replacement Project. Forest City and North Iowa Community Schools Superintendent Darwin Lehmann presented the proposal to the board.

Of concern was the clubhouse at thew Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City. Lehmann explained that the building needs attention.

Lehmann is part of a group trying to get the project funded and so far they have raised over 50% of the needed funds.

Lehmann explained that the project has been pending for over six years and needs to go forward. It has also got the support of the community.

Supervisor Terry Durby outlined to the board what the county could do to help in the qualification process for the grant.

The voted to approve the $5,000 in support of the golf course. Lehmann was asked to also approach the Hancock County Board of Supervisors because part of the golf course is located in Hancock County.
