Clear Lake Parks Crews Prepare Skating Rink in –19 Degree Cold

Despite frigid temperatures, the City of Clear Lake Parks Department says the community skating rink is open and ready for the weekend.

Parks staff worked early Friday morning in brutal cold conditions, with temperatures around –19 degrees, to prepare the rink. Crews applied two fresh coats of ice to ensure safe and smooth skating for residents.

City officials say the warming house is open, and lights are operating on automatic timers for evening use. However, music will not be available at the rink at this time due to vandalism to the sound system and cabinet.

Park officials are reminding skaters to remove hockey nets from the ice after use so the rink remains safe and accessible for everyone.

The City of Clear Lake also thanked its Parks staff for their dedication and teamwork, noting their positive attitude and hard work despite the extreme cold.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the rink and enjoy outdoor skating throughout the weekend.
