Iowa homes on market an average of 26 days in November

Iowa homes are taking a little longer to sell, even as prices remain higher than a year ago, according to the Iowa Association of Realtors.
The group’s president says November numbers suggest the state’s median home sale price “seems to have slowed down a bit,” while inventory remains strong. Homes that sold in November spent an average of 26 days on the market — more than 18% longer than in October.
The median sale price in November was nearly $245,000. That’s slightly below October’s figure, but nearly 7% higher than November 2024.
Sales activity totaled just over 2,500 homes statewide in November. The association also reports a jump in new listings compared to October. In a year-over-year comparison, there were 57 more homes on the market in November than during the same month last year.
