The Forest City Police Department forwarded to the Forest City Council a number of quotes for new laptops to be placed in squad cars. Ross Eiden with the Forest City Police Department explained to the Forest City Council, the need for the new computers.
The city and Winnebago County would need to be on similar programming for more effective communication and information exchange. Eiden had several quotes to work with for both the city and the department.
The costs associated with new mounts along with the laptops became very expensive and Eiden compared those costs with the Panasonic laptops.
Panasonic originally quoted a high price, but the police only need computers to operate a few programs. It was at that point, the price for the laptops came down.
The council approved the purchase of the new computers.
