Chilly Start to September Across Iowa 🌡️🌡️

September Starts with a Chill: Temps Dip into 30s

Iowans woke up to a brisk reminder that fall is just around the corner, as temperatures dipped well below normal early this morning. Much of the state saw lows in the 40s, with several northern communities even dropping into the upper 30s.

According to WeatherIowa, the chilliest spots included Spencer, Hampton, Clarion, and Forest City — all bottoming out at 37 degrees. Mason City wasn’t far behind at 39 degrees.

While the cool air may have had some residents reaching for jackets and sweaters, the dip in temperatures is a typical sign of the changing seasons. Forecasters say highs will rebound later this week, but mornings are likely to remain on the cool side as September gets underway.
